Ringing in the changes at the Bell.
Frank & Freya Adams are the new licensees at the Bell Inn, Manor Rd, Great Bourton on the northern outskirts of Banbury. After many years in Australia and South Africa the couple have returned to England - and their ambition is to run the perfect English pub.
Freya Adams said: "The Bell is a proper pub in the fabulous village of Great Bourton. "We will not change the Bell, but we will make it better - we want it to be a good, old fashioned pub, where people come in to meet their friends, have a drink and can enjoy good, simple home cooked food.
The Bell Inn was originally thatched and attached to a cottage which stuck out into the road. It was rebuilt in the 1920s after a fire. Hidden away in the ridge of the roof on both the northern and southern sides of the pub are Hook Norton beer bottles built into the brick work.
The village of Great Bourton has much to offer the visitor - including - a bell tower detached from the church. It is said that there are only two other places in England where the church bell tower is sited away from the church.
